The International Labor Day, also known as the "the May Day", the "International Demonstration Day", is an international holiday celebrated in more than 80 countries around the world. It is scheduled for May 1 of each year, shared by working people all over the world.
In July 1889, the Second International, led by Engels, held a congress in Paris. The meeting passed a resolution stipulating that international workers marched on May 1, 1890 and decided to set the day of May 1 as International Labor Day.
Administrative council of the central people's government decided to define May 1 as Labor Day in December 1949.
